Welcome to the Surgical Instrument Training Module, a prototype program that takes basic aspects of surgical learning out of the operating room, placing them in an online module for easy and immediate access by any medical resident with an Internet connection. What sets this module apart is its focus on the instruments, a key foundational aspect of medical education. The goal is to provide residents with an interactive overview of the instruments they will encounter in surgery prior to entering the Operating Room, thereby decreasing OR stress and enhancing the overall learning experience.
As a prototype, only certain aspects of the program are currently functional but they can easily be further developed and expanded to encompass other subjects. Before clicking below to enter the module (opens in new page), it would be helpful to click here to download a short User Guide (pdf) which will walk you through the functionality as well as the potential for future development and expansion. You can also access a functional example page by clicking the "Maxillofacial" page under the "Specialty" tab without downloading the User Guide.
